Everyone who studied at school, and even more so, those who are a student’s parents, at least once in their life donated money to the fund of an educational institution, class, for repairs, for a holiday and for a lot of other “material goods” for their child.

At the same time, from October 7, 2019, the authorities of the city of Kiev strictly prohibited the fundraising of teachers and other employees of educational institutions. But does this prevent parents from doing this? Apparently not. That is why the director of the metropolitan school No. 173, Irina Yanush, issued an order that unconditionally forbade any collection of money within the walls of this educational institution. The Informant learned about this from the post of co-founder of the NGO “Parents of SOS” Elena Parfenova on Facebook.

Printed ads appeared on the school’s doors that inform that fundraising is strictly prohibited. And if the director finds out about violations, then without hesitation he will turn to law enforcement. Users admired such actions of Irina Yanush. It is worth noting that she is the newly-made director of this institution and took up her duties on January 2, 2020. At the same time, Elena Parfenova noted that despite such an order, the details of funds where "especially commercial parents" are asked to take off funds continue to "walk" in the Viber chats of the parent committee.

But users who supported the director in the comments under the post are sure that such orders should be posted in all schools in Kiev, then the result will be. Note that parents can still donate money to the needs of the school. But to do this only of their own free will and only the amount that they themselves have established. Such information is indicated in one of the clauses of the order and is called its charity. And charity cannot be prohibited. The school does not have its own account. All charitable assistance should be transferred to a special account of the regional administrations, the philanthropist can indicate what the funds are for, and most importantly, control their use. Thus, this paragraph is fully consistent with applicable law.

But he still did not satisfy some parents. They are sure that the “requisitions” will not change in any way, just the parent committee will not receive its percentage. Others argued that such fundraising was necessary so that the classes were clean, that the children were guarded, and that the entire learning process was top notch. There were also those who compared Ukrainian education with Swiss, for example. According to one of the commentators, the school presents pens / pencils / notebooks to the children there, and all sports sections and excursions are absolutely free. Like, Ukraine is still far from this level.
