On Wednesday, January 15, metropolitan museums will join the international flash mob "Selfie Day at the Museum." It has been held at the initiative of the American activist of the founder of the portal Culture Themes Mar Dixon around the world since 2014 in order to popularize cultural institutions.
The essence of the action is that once a year visitors are allowed to take pictures against the backdrop of their favorite work of art and post pictures on social networks with special hashtags. Authors of the pictures that will gain the most number of likes are awaiting promotion.
Flashmob will be held in such museums:
Museum of the History of Kiev (7 Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street)
Hashtags to specify: #kyivhistorymuseum #MuseumSelfie.
Time from 11:00 to 19:00. The museum promises prizes for the best selfies, although it has not yet announced which ones. Winners will be determined in several categories:
- author of a selfie with a record number of likes;
- The author of the most witty signature or commentary on the photo;
- Selfie with the most spreads.
National Reserve "Sofia Kievskaya" (Vladimirskaya Street, 24)

The museum believes that the main condition for a successful selfie is a good mood, so they encourage guests to stock up on them and come to take pictures.
The museum promises to place the brightest photos on its pages in social networks.

This year the museum offers to pay special attention to new exhibits. After all, a polychrome sculpture of the 15-16th centuries appeared on the exposition, the collection of West European porcelain and Japanese woodcut was updated. The museum will invite creative popularizers to any event that guests will like, and will present badges with a logo.

On January 15, admission to the National Military History Museum of Ukraine will be free, provided that the guests make a selfie in the museum and post it on social networks with the tags #MuseumSelfie and #NVIMU.
Among the published selfies, the museum team will choose two that will be most liked and prepare prizes for their authors.
At 11:30, 14:00 or 16:00, guests can also attend a master class on armaments from the First World War and take pictures with military weapons of a hundred years ago.
Museum of Theater, Music and Cinema of Ukraine (9 Lavrskaya Street)
The museum went further and arranged a real selfie salon. They say that guests can do anything here. Exhibits can be touched, picked up and even worn on.
National Art Museum of Ukraine (6 Grushevskogo Street)

NAMU says that selfie with the lions of the museum, in the red hall of portraits and the green hall of icon painting has already become a must-have in the Instagram feed of many Ukrainians, and after the popular Instagram page Accidentally Wes Anderson posted a photo of the lobby of the museum - and among foreigners. .
The authors of the two best selfies at NAMU are promised two tickets to the performances of “Bad Roads” (January 17) and “Family Album / Album di famiglia” (January 24), so when posting photos you need to tag a friend with whom you plan to go to the play.
All museum guests on January 15 at 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 can visit a unique thematic tour dedicated to self-portrait as the first selfie in the history of mankind.
They remind NAMU that January 15 is Wednesday, which means that students and schoolchildren come for free (if there is a student card, student card).
