The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry handed over a note of protest to Russian representatives over the arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the occupied Crimea for illegal military exercises.
This was announced on Twitter by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Yekaterina Zelenko.
"In connection with the next visit of Vladimir Putin to the temporarily occupied Crimea in order to monitor the illegal exercises of the Northern and Black Sea fleets of the Russian Federation, a note of protest was transmitted to the Russian side," Zelenko wrote.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized the inadmissibility of uncoordinated visits of Russian officials to Ukraine, including to the territories occupied by Russia.
“Once again, we emphasize the inadmissibility of visits by Russian officials to the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders by Russian officials. This is a gross violation of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, contrary to generally recognized norms and principles of international law. #CrimeaIsUkraine,” Zelenko added.
