American performer Justin Bieber said the last two years have been treated for Lyme disease, an infectious disease transmitted through tick bites.
The 25-year-old singer shared this news on January 9 in his Instagram, thus refuting numerous fans' suspicions that the tormented appearance of the artist is related to the use of narcotic substances.
“I was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease. Not only this, but also a serious case of chronic mononucleosis that affected my skin, brain functions, energy and general health,” Bieber wrote, promising to tell more about the disease in a series of videos on YouTube.
At the end of March 2019, Bieber announced a temporary withdrawal from the scene, explaining that his family and health are now in the first place for him. He later talked about prolonged depression and the experience of using hard drugs. And in the fall, he was spotted in Beverly Hills with a portable dropper.
According to CNN, about 300 thousand Americans are diagnosed with Lyme disease each year. At a late stage, this disease can lead to disability or even death.
