The United States is deploying its B-52 strategic bombers from an air base in Louisiana closer to Iran: on the island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.
On Tuesday, January 7, reports Fox News.
It is noted that air bases in the Indian Ocean can be involved in the event of a military conflict with Iran, if an order is given. At the same time, the mere transfer of bombers does not mean that such an order has been issued.
Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal recalls that in 2019, the B-52 group was at the U.S. air base in Qatar for a while, but was then withdrawn from this country. With reference to Pentagon data, WSJ reports that six B-52s are planned to be returned to the region.
Earlier, the US president threatened to strike at 52 Iranian targets in response to any potential attack that could be committed after the assassination of Iranian general Kassem Suleimani.
