The Antimonopoly Committee (AMCU) allowed the businessman, the founder of the holding company UFuture Vasily Khmelnitsky to acquire a stake in the Cyprus company Ocean Plaza Project. The latter is the owner of the Kiev Mall Ocean Plaza and one of the largest in Kharkiv presentation and exhibition centers "Radmir Expohall". Khmelnitsky will receive more than 25% of the vote in the supreme governing body of the company, the AMCU press service said.
Antitrust managers concluded that the Khmelnitsky acquisition of the Ocean Plaza Project will not lead to monopolization or a significant restriction of competition, as the buyer does not lease commercial (retail) real estate in Kiev and Kharkov.
"As a result of the study, including on the basis of information from law enforcement agencies, it was found that the list of business entities related to control relations with concentration participants does not include legal entities or individuals subject to special restrictive measures (sanctions)," the statement says message.
However, Khmelnitsky’s plans for the Kiev shopping center were known for a long time. Recall that in March 2019, Khmelnitsky announced that he plans to buy Ocean Plaza from the Russian businessman Arkady Rotenberg. According to Khmelnitsky, he had already received offers from Rotenberg to buy the Kiev complex.
