On December 12, EU leaders will once again continue sanctions against Russia imposed for the role of Moscow in the war in eastern Ukraine. They are directly related to the full implementation of the Minsk agreements by the Kremlin.
This was announced on December 11 by a senior EU official. According to him, it is very likely that the European Council will confirm the general support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. And since the duration of economic sanctions is associated with the full implementation of the Minsk agreements by Russia, it is expected that the sanctions will continue.
Meanwhile, a Senate committee of the United States of America has approved a bill that should impose sanctions on companies and individuals involved in the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.
It should be noted that Ukraine is opposed to the construction of the pipeline, as it fears stopping the transit of Russian gas through its gas transportation system. However, Germany gave permission for the construction of the pipeline, since it sees its own commercial interest in the project
Recall, the OSCE adopted a resolution against gas pipelines of the Russian Federation, bypassing Ukraine (Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream).
