President Vladimir Zelensky said he does not trust Putin

President Vladimir Zelensky said he does not trust anyone in world politics, including Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky said in an interview with the French publication Monde that he does not trust anyone, not excluding Vladimir Putin, because "unlike mathematics, politics is an inaccurate science."

“Here we are not talking about solving an equation with one or more unknowns. In politics, there is only the unknown. And everyone defends his interests, ”he said.

When asked about his relationship with the Russian president, the politician replied that he had three telephone conversations with Putin, which “brought results” in the form of the simultaneous release of the detained people, including the return of the Ukrainian military arrested in November 2018.

Zelensky also stated that he intends to discuss with Vladimir Putin the long-term transit of Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system during the Normandy Four summit in Paris on December 9.

“Gas transit annually brings us from 2.5 to 3 billion dollars. Despite the statements of our partners, this is not only an economic, but also a political issue. We hope to sign a gas transit agreement with Russia for 10 years. I want to separate this topic from the Donbass, ”he said.

The President of Ukraine added that he was worried about the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

“On this issue, I do not have power over European leaders. I can only count on the help of the USA, which support us, ”Zelensky said.

Zelensky also assured in an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel that in a conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump, questions of investigating the activities of the son of former US Vice President Joseph Biden were not made dependent on the unblocking of military assistance to Kiev.

“As for the United States, I don’t want us to be poor. I did not speak with US President Trump at all on the principle that “I give you this, you give me such and such,” the politician says.

He noted that Ukraine is “at war”, and if Washington considers itself a strategic partner of Kiev, he should not have blocked aid.

Recall that the summit in the "Norman format" is scheduled for December 9. The Kremlin reported that the presidents of Russia and Ukraine could hold a separate meeting on the sidelines of the summit, where they would have the opportunity to discuss the gas issue.

The Kremlin said that Putin and Zelensky in Paris would have something to talk about, "because personal communication is different from a telephone conversation."
