World AIDS Day. On June 5, 1981, the American Center for Disease Control registered a new disease - AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). According to UNAIDS, today more than 35 million people aged 15 to 49 are infected with HIV. On this day, special events are held to remind people about how to protect themselves from a terrible disease. A symbol of the fight against AIDS is the red ribbon. This symbol was invented by Frank Moore in 1991.
