No matter how much we have been promised, we will not be able to join NATO as long as hostilities are taking place in our territory. However, representatives of the governing body of the NATO - North Atlantic Council - said they would soon be in Ukraine. So, already on October 30-31, NATO leaders are waiting in Kiev and Odessa.
This was first announced by Alexander Vinnikov, Head of the NATO Delegation to Ukraine, during a briefing in Severodonetsk, Luhansk Oblast. He called this two-day visit to Ukraine "a powerful enough signal of NATO's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity." Of course, this is very important for Ukraine and assures us that we can expect genuine support. Vinnikov also said of another important event during this period: "At the same time the ships of the permanent NATO naval group will enter the port of Odessa."
The event will be attended by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. During his visit, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg will hold a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission in Kiev. A meeting of NATO leaders with MPs, the Cabinet of Ministers and representatives of civil society is also planned. Vinnikov emphasized the role of this visit: "This visit is very important, and it will highlight all the current agenda items in NATO-Ukraine relations."
It should be reminded that Zelensky discussed with NATO Stoltenberg the issues of further joint work of NATO and Ukraine during his official visit to the USA.
