Danishevska - Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Ukraine - criticizes the President. According to her, he ignores the discussion of the bill on the reduction of judges in the Supreme Court.
"During the 2017 judicial reform, the Supreme Court was re-created. It is the only full-service judiciary to date. Initially, we had only 118 judges, now there are 192 of us, and this allows us to consider the entire caseload that is before us. We have received almost 230,000 cases in a year and ten months. Only four months ago, the Supreme Court was replenished with new judges. So now we have the opportunity to finally make decisions in an adequate time, "the chairman said during an interview with the BBC.
This Bill No. 1008 provides for the lustration of the heads of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Soviet Union and the State Judicial Administration who have held their positions for at least a year between November 21, 2013 and May 19, 2019.
We will remind, on September 12 for the bill No. 1008 voted in the first reading. It was supported by 238 MPs. The second reading is scheduled for October 4.
